Halsey Bottling Company: A Family Business

WHO WE ARE :

Halsey Bottling LLC is one of the largest and most successful mobile bottling companies in California’s wine and spirits industry. Based in Napa, Ca., Halsey Bottling travels the entire state servicing wineries and distilleries needing packaging services. In 2015, we bottled over 1.2 million cases of wine and spirits. Our reputation has positioned us as the go-to choice for many of California’s largest wineries.

Halsey Bottling was founded by Dan Halsey Jr., who has over 40 years of bottling experience in the wine industry.  Dan is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable wine industry professionals in the area of bottling and packaging wines. It is hard to find a person in the industry who has seen more wine packages than Dan, and this experience leads wineries to seek his consultation during new bottling line installations, or new package designs.

Halsey Bottling utilizes six high-speed bottling lines to service California wineries and spirits production facilities. Our bottling services allow customers without bottling facilities, or those with facilities, but have special needs, to package their wines on-site with speed and efficiency.

DAN HALSEY JR.’s EARLY YEARS IN THE WINE INDUSTRY:

In 1983, Dan began his career in the wine industry. He took a pivotal role as a bottling assistant on one of the first mobile bottling lines in the industry, owned and operated by Bill Harrison. Bill Harrison was owner of Estate Mobile Bottling, one of the first mobile bottlers in the country, and became one of the most influential mentors Dan had in the wine industry.

Between the 80s and 90s, Dan gained the knowledge and experience necessary to handle all types of bottling challenges. As he traveled from winery to winery, he learned winemaking techniques, wine chemistry, and most importantly, how to correctly handle wine to preserve its integrity during the bottling process.

During these founding years, Dan developed a passion for bottling wine. Between 1996-2005, Dan was a bottling line manager for William Hill Winery, Kistler Vineyards, Associated Vintners Group, and Stags Leaps Winery. During these years, he turned his bottling knowledge and experience into a level of expertise in the field.

In 2006, Dan founded Halsey Bottling was founded with two bottling lines and quickly because a reputable name in the industry. By 2008, Halsey Bottling added a third bottling line to the fleet, a custom-built state-of-the-art all capable high-speed line (cork, screw cap, lug, optical spot, etc.). In 2014 a fourth line was acquired and in 2020 a fifth high speed line was built. The 6th bottling line in the fleet was acquired in 2021, Estate Mobile Bottling. The line where Dan’s career first began.

In 2017, Halsey Bottling packaged over 1.2 million cases of wine and spirits. Currently, Halsey Bottling is one of the largest and most successful bottling companies in California’s wine industry. Dan’s determination and hard work has created a reputation in the industry and has positioned Halsey Bottling as the go-to choice for many of California’s largest and most successful wineries

One area that sets Halsey Bottling apart from other packaging companies is our commitment to stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). These procedures form the bedrock of the Halsey Bottling HAACP plan: a systematic preventive approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in production. Clients can be assured that careful monitoring (and the resulting collected data) for any bottling run will satisfy the safety needs of both the consumer and producer. Only by being uncompromising in our approach to handling wine (and bottling) can we ensure that the wines we bottle are unaffected from the bottling process.

In 2014, Halsey Bottling was certified as an Organic Bottling Company by the CCOF. Our commitment to organic procedures stems from a company-wide belief that the health of the wine industry will depend upon wine producers embracing new and sustainable practices (of which organic wines are part of). We look forward to meeting the changing landscape of the wine industry of the future.
